College Town

College town is the perfect venue for a fun and affordable day. With restaurants, bars, a bookstore and more, you could definitely spend some great quality time in this place. Now, with your $50… here are some suggestions on what to do.

Mt. Hope Diner

Starting just down the street from collegetown, you can start your day with a delicious and extremely fairly priced breakfast at the Mt. Hope Diner.

To simmer down from some hot yoga, it will be a good idea to get inside some air conditioning and relax for a second. Take some time to walk through the exquisite art, and get some ideas for birthday gifts, holiday gifts, or just something to give your special someone. Getting hungry again after all that walking and exercise? Right across the street is Chipotle Mexican Grill, one of the best quick and easy places to stop and eat. With window-style walls facing the street, you can sit down and enjoy your lunch in the air conditioning while people-watching. Or, weather permitting, they also have outdoor seating if you wish to sit outside. For the sake of this blog, let’s say you get the classic Chipotle Burrito.

Mt. Hope Cemetery Trail

Now before you freak out… the Mt. Hope Cemetery Trail is absolutely beautiful, featuring more than 80 mausoleums, Egyptian obelisks, winged angels of mercy, a Florentine cast-iron fountain, two stone chapels (Gothic Revival style), a Moorish gazebo, various tombstones, beautiful wild flowers, natural pond, and is an easy-to-follow loop trail. Take some quiet time to walk the trail, or even the outside perimeter of the cemetery.

Bar 145

Need a drink after that? It’s the perfect time to cool down and unwind at Bar 145, where you can relax with a drink and watch some live music. With an indoor and outdoor bar, you can sit and order wherever you like and still be able to watch the live performance happening in the inside stage. With the $10 left, treat yourself and your significant other to some frozen custard, and head back to the car to wrap up the day.

If you’re feeling adventurous, head up to Cobb’s Hill Reservoir with your ice cream and watch the sunset over the City of Rochester. With this view, you’ll be glad you came out on the town for the night.
